Off Topic: “Sword Art Online”

The Order of Syncletica

The cover of the manga of “Sword Art Online”

With all the drama involving MyDDO’s passing, I thought it would be fun to talk about gaming from a different perspective.

I’m been on an anime-watching kick for some time now. One show caught my eye and then my rapt attention.

Pretend it’s about 10 years from now. There’s still PC gaming, but the interfaces have changed.

You might have heard of the Oculus Rift, a virtual reality gaming interface, in development today,  that fits over your face, giving you an immersive stereoscopic display.

In this near-future, you can place a helmet on your head, which immerses your consciousness into a 3D environment where you don’t move an avatar–you are the avatar.

This device, the NerveGear, is the heart of virtual multiplayer online gaming, and the premise of the anime adaptation of the manga called “Sword Art Online.”

Thaz’s Sat

Micki's Delirium

I was going to log on early to run Eveningstar stuff with Zendikar, but real life stuff took longer than planned, and didn’t log on til 9 pm, Fin time. Zen was running VON, so I joined Neugash for ToD instead. Took a while for us to fill, but was a good run. I told Neug that I could prolly solo heal it, with a good party, but that I wouldn’t want to. Luckily we got a second healer. 🙂 My only problem if I was to try and solo heal ToD is that u have 2 bosses in end fight and I would have to which between the one tank and the rest of the group, but I think I could do it, if I had to.

After ToD I wanted to run second Eveningstar (Sschindylryn) chain with Zen and we got a nice group for…

Blue Flame in the Fire Caves?

Erdrique's Blog

Earlier in the week, I took Hamllin (Level 7 Fighter) into Three Barrel Cove and into the Fire Caves to complete the quest, Brood of Flame.  Now, the Fire Caves are located in a volcanic peak in the north eastern region of Three Barrel Cove.  As you can imagine, cave is flowing with lava during the second half of the Fire Caves story arc, crawling with fire mephits, fire elemntals, and hell hounds.  However, there is one flame that caught my eye.  A blue flame burning bright in the midst of all the natural red flames and heat.

Hamllin noticing a peculiar blue flame in the middle of the Fire Caves.

So I started to wonder what the source of the blue flame was and who actually lit it.  The only other time I can remember seeing blue flames around in our travels is when they were lit magically…

Temple of Elemental Evil in DDO

The Long Shot

Temple of Elemental Evil in DDO

On Wednesday March 25, Severlin, Steelstar, Knockback, and Cordovan from the DDO team posted a video on YouTube to preview the upcoming Temple of Elemental Evil quest from Update 25, which should be coming out sometime in April.

The first thing i noticed while watching the video is that it looks phenomenal. Each new piece of content that gets released has more impressive graphics than the last. Better lighting effects and background details help keep this game fresh after nine years. i can tell you from personal experience, the look of DDO has developed a ton since those early days. While by comparison to new games that launch all the time, the graphics might not be up to their caliber, i still think it’s a great looking game with excellent gameplay.

One of the things they show early in the video, which i was a…

Taking A Stroll Through the Butcher’s Path

Erdrique's Blog

It has been a little while since I took a detailed look at a quest.  Since Erdrique (Level 3 Rogue) is re-making his way through the Harbor I figured it would be a good time to take a look at a lower quest.  The quest I chose is probably one of the more difficult Harbor quests for its level, Walk Through the Butcher’s Path.  Although Walk Through a Butcher’s Path is only a level 2 quest on normal, making it a level 4 on elite, walking blindly into this quest can be disastrous.  There are a number of fun and interesting aspects to the quest that do make it an interesting run besides being tough.

It is time to explore the Butcher’s Path.

The quest giver is a NPC named Mistress Ahura, who happens to be an elf, and who is located not far from the Fallowcrest Library in…

EEraids take 7

Micki's Delirium

I hope I’m not boring you all with these posts. 🙂 Of late I don’t do a whole lot of raiding, except for the EEraids on Saturday, usually at 2pm EST (the time was changed because of Deathwyrm). This Saturday I felt confident in the group I had for Deathwyrm, I had dps and everything seemed fine… until the 6th puzzle, when lag hit us and we pretty much wiped (maybe 2 ppl survivied). I suggested a restart, as when you lag in there it tends to stay with you, and a restart gives you a different instance… so we restarted. Try two was much better, and even though we ended up with the red light/ green light room, we managed pretty well. We had had no issue in the bone guardian room, and only a few minor lag spikes, but no big issues… until it came to doing the…
