It’s the Little Things…

Citi Plays DDO

[Author’s Note: This post is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, fun, and for enjoyment.]

Many times I have indicated how much I love Dungeons and Dragons Online: Here, in chat, and in real. I do this because simple words would never do justice to my obsession.

Never-the-less, every once in a while something rears its head, and drives me absolutely bonkers. Typically, that “something” is lag. However, sometimes that “something” is so minuscule that it is almost not worth mentioning. Today’s post is about the latter.

I have a new alt that I created specifically for running Against the Slave Lords at level with my Cannith guild. I’m going to focus on her specifically because she possesses the main issue I have with the latest update and patch.

DDO: A return with a one-eyed rogue

Bio Break

rogueDDO is back in my game rotation, mostly because I’ve been curious how the expansions have changed the game and only slightly because of past feelings for this title.  Man, it’s been years since I played, but oh how it comes back in a rush.  I think that, for me, it’s always the sounds that reconnect me with games right away.  We might not actively notice those noises when we’re playing, but they do wonders in shuttling long-term memories back to short-term.  The “dong!” and quest complete noises in DDO especially.

A good half of my session last night centered around making a new character.  This is trickier in Shadowfell Conspiracy because you can make insta-level 15s, so I had to figure out a new iconic class, level her up 15 times in a row, and then invest in enhancements.  The goal, more or less, was to make a dual-wielding…

Enjoying the Druid Winter Wolf Form

Erdrique's Blog

Erdrique right now is level 13 with level 14 banked in his druid life.  Since I tend to favor melee builds, I decided that I would primarily use the wolf and winter wolf change shape throughout this particular life.  And needless to say, I have enjoyed that decision quite a bit!!  I really enjoy the run speed in winter wolf form and various attacks, including Alpha Strike which I find to be really fun to use.  I also like using the spells Frostbite and Jaws of Winter which are available to you in winter wolf form.

Perhaps the most fun I have though is when I use the trip spell ability.  I ran Chamber of Rhamat (The Tomb of the Physician) in Sands of Menechtarun the other day and I enjoyed watching my trip land on one of the hyenas:

Going back to PK Dualist

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

There are currently 2 things going on that I like to do ‘more often’ than not. Grinding slavers for mats – easily done on my Vanguard or Warlock – or doing EE solo DQ raids on my Vanguard.

There are reasons for this; like working on a set for the slavers. 3 total items to craft (so a bazillion years) and 2 of the named ones. THEN doing the same for melee.

I don’t know how I’ll keep my sanity, but I’ll worry about that later.

Then there’s my Vanguard doing solo the solo raid. My aim is to hit 20 and hopefully pick up some shards on the way. I never did manage to unlock ring of spellstoring. But I’d love too. But there’s also the item that gives you mass DW. So there are still items from the old Epic level 20 line up that can be useful.

Quote of the Day

Bio Break

“If the Chamber of Raiyun were a module for the tabletop version of Dungeons & Dragons, Wizards of the Coast would be sending lawyers all over the country, the world even, explaining to judges and juries why the dead dungeon master found floating in the river, perhaps slowly colliding with even more dead dungeon masters, wasn’t a justifiable homicide.”

Who Excavated all of These Mines?

Erdrique's Blog

Over the past few weeks, I notice that I have been running a lot of quests through various mines.  For instance, I ran Stromvauld’s Mine, The Iron Mines in Sorrowdusk Ilse, and the Scondrel’s Run.  So I started to wonder, who excavated these mines to begin with?  Now we know that Stromvauld’s Mine is an active mine and in fact that is why we are heading in there, to look for the missing mining parties.  However, the Iron Mines and Scondrel’s Run are abandoned mines that are now inhabited by ogres and minotaurs, respectively.

Stromvauld’s mine is still actively producing rare gems.

The Iron Mines suggest that at one point iron was harvested with great quantities out of there.  I’m thinking that a clan of dwarves probably started this mine.  But what happened to them?  If dwarves didn’t set up the mine then who did.  As for Scondrel’s…

Juggling MMOs – timeouts and reminders

GamingSF

Having multiple MMORPGs to play is great in terms of keeping myself entertained regardless of burnout, a sudden whim for variety or the odd server downtime. This September my gaming time has been more limited, not terribly constrained, but I’ve found myself mostly just playing WoW with a bit of Everquest 2 on the side. In a sense that shouldn’t matter, I’m not paying any subscriptions at all at the moment (I play EQ2 as F2P currently and WoW via Token) so there’s no nagging feeling I should be playing this MMO or that MMO because of “value for money”. But the games are designed to be sticky in other ways  and that can be a pain when you play so many, even casually.

A model for auction houses everywhere... A model for auction houses everywhere…

The biggest issue I face is juggling auction items. Unfortunately not all MMOs have adopted EQ2’s rather civilised broker system…

So she TR’d… again. Maidae take 3

Micki's Delirium

🙂 Finally. I ran the last raids I wanted to run on Maidae on Saturday, then some on Thaz, and spent the Sunday xp’ing on Cerge. Cerge is now a good bit into 20, even though he’s still 18. So, I was itching to TR Maidae. I had a slight hiccup with the power going out just as I’m about to TR and I had to wait half an hour for the power to come back, but finally I got to TR. Here’s the before and after pictures.

Maidae Shadow: level 26 half-elf monk            Maidae Shadow: level 1 elf rogue

I didn’t have time to run anything on her, I will have to do that another day, I just ran to the ship to show her to Osi, lol. He said he saw a dryad. 😀

Take care and see you around Korthos. 😛

Wondering About the PUG Scene

Erdrique's Blog

This past weekend I ran Erdrique (Level 14 Druid) through two of the desert side quests, Maraud the Mines and Raid the Vulkoorim, on Saturday and Sludgge (Level 20 Rogue/Shadowdancer) on Sunday who I took him through Under the Big Top on epic normal.  I hadn’t been in a PUG group in awhile so I put those particular runs up into the LFG panel.  I was kind of surprised that I didn’t get a single hit on either of them.  This made me wonder about the PUG scene.  I think the primary reason why I didn’t get a hit for Maraud the Mines and Raid the Vulkoorim is because I was level 14 and those quests on elite are only level 13 (I had specifically mentioned no BB in text in group).  This means that people wouldn’t get their elite streak bonus with those runs, although it wouldn’t break…

Phoenix Clan on Orien is recruiting

Micki's Delirium

Due to people (including the founder) leaving the game, my guild Phoenix Clan is now recruiting. We are a level 178 guild on Orien and we have a Kraken with all the amenities.

We are looking for active players, preferably in EU or Asian time zones who are interested in TRing and/ or raiding. We don’t have guild activities, but I do enjoy it when the guildies once in a while manage to get together for a few quests or raids.

All we want from you is to be friendly and non elitist and try and log on as often as you can. Joining the guildies in their activities is a plus.

You can send applications to Thazara in game, Micki on the forums, or to my email by filling out the contact form here on my blog.
