DDO Rolls 1d3

Bio Break

Wow… Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) just turned 3 — has it really been that long already?

When it first came out, I was right on board, first train and pulling that whistle.  Choo-choo!  DDO seemed like it had a great chance to forge a new path in MMOspace — a solid IP that was synonymous with “RPG”, a dedication to party instance runs that would tell stories, and the ability to multi-class.  Right after launch, however, it didn’t take long for most of us to realize that this wasn’t going to make any great waves in the gaming industry, and in fact, was going to struggle hard for its entire lifespan.

For the record, I liked DDO, but they didn’t quite think everything through in development.  The Eberron setting was a mistake, as few D&D loyalists were familiar with the campaign, and confining the population to one city gave…

Just a short one; ee Tor

Micki's Delirium

Since epic gianthold came out, I have been spending at least some time there every week. I tend to hop on ee lfm’s, especially if it’s someone I know. Usually it’s been Prison of the Planes. A few days ago I gave up trying to lead FoT. It’s not that I don’t know it, or try my best to make sure everyone knows what to do, people still manage to mess up, we fail the timing and end up having to prep the Reaver over and over…. Those damn perma dots, and people without pale lavender, etc. It’s a huge mess and I’m tired. So, while complaining to a friend about it, he suggested one of the channels he’s in. Not that it’d help me with FoT, but they run other stuff, like ee Tor.

So, yesterday I had planned to run some lowbie stuff with grim, but then I…

Anybody Ever Notice the Giants Statues in Gianthold?

Erdrique's Blog

The other day, I was leading a group through the Gianthold Slayer area during Erdrique’s barbarian life and somebody had mentioned something about the giants crystallized in the area.  All of the giants appear to be storm giants.  There aren’t any fire giants, ice giants, cloud giants, or hill giants represented in the area in terms of crystallized giants.

Notice the storm giants in GH photo NoticetheStormgiantshere_zps1a8cc52c.jpgErdrique taking a look at the giants that are crystallized in Gianthold.

I found this interesting because the only storm giants we come across currently in DDO is the Stormreaver and Sor’jek.  So I was wondering where are the other giants?  I was always under the impression that giants fought the quori and the dragons as a mixed group, in other words hill giants, fire giants, storm giants, etc took on those forces together.  If that is so, where are the other races of giants?  Why is it only the storm…

Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in February 2016, which is a milestone within the MMORPG gaming community. Not only is DDO one of the few MMOs to have supported its fantasy world continuously for over ten years but was also the pioneer of the hybrid free to play business model now common with PC based MMOs.

There are currently 128 free to play quests in DDO, with the three most recent f2p quests released on May 10th, 2016 as an extension of the 10th anniversary celebration. The official 10th anniversary update earlier this year introduced the Gnome and the Iconic Deep Gnome player races to DDO and the subsequent Update 31 is…

Dammit! Stop making me drool!!!!

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

That’s right Turbine; so I had this longterm plan to make a truck ton of goodies (greensteel) and run a bazillion Epics for some really rare things (ring of Elemental Essence, I’m talking about you) and you go and add some challenge system with a bunch of stuff that would totally solve things for me.

My end goal is the following; Animus for the undead crowds (runearm out of DA – got that one). It’s situational since most high end critters laugh at fire damage and it’s not ideal unless I hope to slap high end critters over the hand with it and then make them mad at me. Glorious Obscenity (Reign of Madness – acid based and I got that one). Its acid damage is really brutal. I did some experimenting and respeccing and after adding a Major acid Lore trinket I can hit between 80 – over 800…

What’s the deal with the wildmen?

Erdrique's Blog

Over the past week or so I took Erdrique through Ataraxia’s Haven and the Restless Isles.  One thing that both of these areas have in common are the wildmen.  Going by the appropriate level ranges, you come across Ataraxia’s Haven first and then come on toward the Restless Isles.  However, there is a discrepancy here.  The storyline for the Restless Isles indicates that the wildmen the descendants of the servants of the Quori and they are only found in the Restless Isles.  This is why the wildmen can enter the Twilight Forge without any problems, however, if the wildmen are limited to the Restless Isles then how did they make their way to Ataraxia’s Haven?  They are also located in the Skyfall Coast, where they are present when the forces of Droaam begin to start their siege on Stormreach.

Amrath – the con op edition

Tactalicious & Craftalicious

My goal from the very first time I started playing my ranger was to be able to solo Amrath. As I wrote about it previously someone recommended that I look at this thing called Monk (I guess somewhat sarcastically) but to me that’s kind of silly. If I enjoy a class why should I then look at something else simply because it’s ‘easier’ to do something with that one and forego the challenge with my choice?

If that was true I would simply stick with my FvS since BB and kite works fine wherever I go.

When I talk about solo I don’t talk me, the sunlight in the back and a hireling. I mean we all use hirelings and sometimes they’re more roadblocks than they’re useful. Like if the hireling is ‘close’ enough they’re going to take their time running to you. If they’re not they first have to…

Frustration with the Restless Isles…

Erdrique's Blog

As I take Erdrique through this particular life on his way through the completionist train, one of the goals I wanted to try to accomplish was to knock out all of the Wilderness Zones, at the appropriate levels, as well as hit up all of the quests on elite (excluding raids) without “leveling out of them”.  So far I have done pretty good.  Erdrique currently stands at level 15 and the lowest non-raid quest he needs is Ghola-Fan which is level 12 on elite, so he hasn’t out leveled it yet.

As for the explorer areas, he has completed Korthos, Cerulean Hills, Waterworks, Tangleroot, Three Barrel Cove, Searing Heights, Red Fens, Sorrowdusk Isle, and Ataraxia’s Haven all within the appropriate level ranges.  The next one to hit up was the Restless Isles.  Well, I did…
